Premalu Movie Review – Delightful rom-com

Girish A.D.’s directed Malayalam film “Premalu” has become the talk of the town. Naslen K. Gafoor and Mamta Baiju play pivotal roles in this romantic comedy. Let’s see how the film fares.

Sachin (Naslen K. Gafoor), an engineering graduate and a timid young man, falls in love with a girl from his college but fails to express his feelings for her. After completing his graduation, he plans to go to the UK, but his visa application gets rejected. Sachin doesn’t want to stay at his hometown and hence asks his friend Amal Davis (Sangeeth Prathap) for help. Amal, who is planning to coach GATE in Hyderabad, takes Sachin along with him. In a wedding, Sachin meets Reenu (Mamta Baiju) and instantly falls in love with her. The rest of the film showcases the journey of the main characters.

Handling films like “Premalu” is quite challenging, whose story is simple, but Girish A.D. executes this task splendidly. “Premalu” provides a cheerful, lively, and heartwarming experience throughout. Girish A.D. blends healthy and situational humor skillfully. There are many sequences in the film that will make us laugh heartily. The best part is that the impact of the romantic story doesn’t overshadow the enjoyable moments. The main duo, Naslen Gafoor and Mamta Baiju, are adorable in their roles. Naslen looks like a boy next door and is very natural in portraying Sachin. His character exudes innocence, spontaneity, and charm, and the young actor has done a commendable job in bringing these qualities to the screen. Mamta Baiju is equally appealing as Reenu. Her character is well-designed, and the actress’s lively performance makes anyone fall in love with her character.

Apart from these actors, the city of Hyderabad also plays a significant role in this delightful romantic comedy. The setup of a Malayalam film in Hyderabad adds freshness to the story. The film beautifully explores the vibrant city, making it easy for Telugu audiences to connect with it.

There are not many complaints regarding “Premalu.” The initial few minutes, depicting the hero’s parents and home, could have been handled better. The film feels a bit slow during these parts.

Those expecting an exceptional story might be slightly disappointed as “Premalu” is about providing an entertaining experience along with a familiar narrative. However, the first half could have been crisper.

Technical Aspects:

Vishnu Vijay’s music and Ajmal Sambu’s cinematography enrich the enjoyable experience of “Premalu.” The production values are very good, and the producers deserve praise for portraying Hyderabad remarkably and making it an integral part of the story.

Director Girish A.D. has been assisted in writing by Kiran Joshi, and both have done a commendable job in integrating entertainment and love into the narrative seamlessly. Most of the humor is situational and presented very well. Girish A.D.’s direction is top-notch, and especially the second half is handled exceptionally without any dull moments. “Premalu” is one of the most endearing rom-coms to come out in recent days.

Overall, “Premalu” is a highly entertaining rom-com with plenty of enjoyable moments. Naslen K. Gafoor, Mamta Baiju, Sangeeth Prathap, and Shyam Mohan shine in their roles. “Premalu” is packed with humor sequences, confident moments, relatable characters, and a lovely love story. It’s not just for Malayali audiences, but there’s a good chance for Telugu audiences to connect with “Premalu” as it presents the bustling city of Hyderabad wonderfully.
